Piercing the Veil by Eric J Wentz is an intense political thriller that features very compelling characters. In a story set against the historical background of World War II, the reader will encounter coalitions between intelligence bodies—like the OSS, the CIA, the SAS, and the SEALs—and sinister missions. It is in such a tense political atmosphere that the highly skilled Lieutenant Commander Grant Chisolm is tasked to rescue hostages taken by a charismatic and revolutionary leader in sub-Saharan Africa, a mission that must be completed discreetly. What he will discover in this daring mission will bring him face-to-face with himself, allow him to question his past, and determine a course of action that may resonate with his life’s purpose. This is a political thriller with a powerful message, a story that connects one man to history and opens his eyes to truths that will shake everything he’s believed in.

Eric J Wentz has written a captivating story that readers will devour with a lot of interest. I loved the writing, the fast-paced plot, and the compelling characters. The protagonist is very well-developed, the kind of character that readers will love to follow. Chisolm reads so realistically that the reader feels as if he is just a character sitting with them on the bus, making a journey. The writing is superb, crisp, and so tightly knit that it is a delight to read. I enjoyed the well-crafted dialogues; they read so naturally. The conflict is well-developed and it is one of the compelling elements that keeps the pulse of the plot. This is a book for fans of thrillers with intense action and intrigue. Piercing the Veil is a real page-turner.

Epiphany – The Silvering by Sonya Deanna Terry picks up where The Golding leaves off with another budding romance. Meanwhile Rosetta Melki is making discoveries about both her early childhood and the secret project one of her friends has been working on, a project that could play a significant role in the world as they know it. Amidst what appears to be chaos, Matthew jumps on board with Rosetta’s Our True Ancient History book-study group. When letters written by the Our True Ancient History author in the 1700s are discovered, Matthew travels to the UK to visit a chapter of their internet society. The owner of the letters allows the letters to be photographed and posted on the web. What Matthew learns from the letters has an epiphanic effect on him, especially because much of it surrounds Rosetta.

Once again, Ms. Terry does an amazing job of working the plots of both the faery world and present day as the characters come to realize they have many past lives that are being connected through the Dream Sphere where the past, present and future exist simultaneously. When a ghost from Matthew’s past pays him a visit, Matthew is down on his luck and solemn, but the blast from the past reveals their true identities. Sonya’s powerful writing style continues to weave a tale that is sure to become a cult favorite. It has everything you could want from fantasy, mixing fiction with the real-life tragedies of today. The author could not have picked a more suitable title for this brilliantly entertaining masterpiece. Epiphany – The Silvering is the grand finale of its predecessor. Captivating, wondrous and uplifting. All I can say is Wow!

Zoe stands on the parapet of a bridge, preparing to jump. The opening of The Inbetween by H.K. Thompson takes us immediately into the heart of the action. Zoe has lost her beloved husband days after their wedding and, feeling that she can’t go on, is determined to take her own life. Here the narrative skips to Drake and Lexi, who inhabit a fantastic world where they are able to manifest whatever they want or need by the power of their thoughts. Very soon they are joined by Zoe, who awakens in their world in what seems to her to be a strange dream. It becomes clear, however, that the place the three now inhabit is an 'inbetween' world; a place between life and death, a place of revelation, and a place where life issues must finally be resolved.

Through a series of exotic and symbolic adventures with many twists, turns and surprising, frequently shocking revelations, Zoe, Lexi and Drake make their way through a strange, sometimes beautiful, sometimes terrifying landscape. Here they will meet dragons, unicorns, and other inhabitants who are not always who they appear to be. They will discover strange truths and secrets about themselves and the world that they are travelling through, all of which they must resolve, and prepare for the final battle - the battle that will decide their fates, a battle for life or death.

The Inbetween presents us with a strange allegorical landscape, an Alice in Wonderland world where anything is possible and each sentence, scene and setting may have a hidden meaning. H.K. Thompson has created a narrative full of symbolism, a tale of love and loss, of torment and redemption. From the time that Dante first journeyed the paths of Purgatorio, the concept of a world between heaven and hell has inspired and fascinated fertile minds. The Inbetween, a well-written tale by a competent author, is a worthy addition to the discussion. A thought-provoking book and highly recommended.

The Law of Moses by Kwen D. Griffeth introduces us to young Sam Cardiff. When Sam arrives in his small home town in upstate New York, after two years away at Teacher’s College, he has his future life all planned and in front of him. He plans to marry the girl he’s sweet on, settle down, and have children while practicing his profession. Opposed to the Civil War that has broken out between the States, Sam has absolutely no intention of becoming involved. When his younger brother, Luke, joins the Union Army, Sam’s mother begs him to go with Luke and keep an eye on his brother. After a series of personal tragedies, we flash forward to the new iteration of Sam Cardiff, who now calls himself Sam Moses. He has spent over twenty years as a tough, no-nonsense gunslinger and occasional Marshall in many western towns. A bad-tempered loner who seems to have a death wish, can Sam’s heart of stone can be melted by the people of the small town where he is now Marshall?

I loved this story of an upright man of honour, with a past that continually weighed him down. Sam Moses was a complex character and was beautifully presented by Griffeth. The writing in The Law of Moses was simple and uncomplicated, which was more than could be said for the characters within the story. I’m not usually a reader of westerns, but this book has changed my mind somewhat. I found myself drawn to the irascible Sam and his unintentional good heart. Even when he wanted to be mean, he somehow found a way not to be so. This is the first in a series of books based on Sam and his love interest, Laura. The author has done a fantastic job of exciting me, as a reader, to want to find out what happens next in this story. An excellent read and one I enjoyed tremendously.

The Maynwarings by Digger Cartwright is everything a western novel should be and so much more. The Maynwarings are an influential family living in Carson City, Nevada, shortly after the Civil War during the time of reconstruction. Barron is the head of the family as well as the State Senator, dividing his time between Washington, D.C. and his Greenbrier spread, the largest cattle ranch in the area. Carson City is a typical western town until they suddenly begin having all sorts of trouble. There is a hanging, cattle rustling, unexplained killings, sick cattle and mass confusion. There is also a newcomer in town, Gideon Van Thorn. The Maynwarings are slowly able to connect the dots and blame all of the trouble on Thorn and his unruly group of men.

The Maynwarings is 428 pages long and the action is continuous on all of the pages, in each paragraph and in every sentence. Digger Cartwright has written a western story that not only tells the story of the old wild west cowboys and ranchers of early Nevada days, but there is also politics, family, drama, suspense and mystery to keep you reading well into the middle of the night. I found myself looking at the Maynwaring family as old friends. I hurt for their pains, cheered for their joys, and booed the bad guys. The Maynwarings would be such a great movie; I even have a cast of Hollywood stars picked out for them. This is a must-read book; I know you will not be able to put it down until you reach the unexpected ending.

Out of The Box Regifted by Jennifer Theriot is a moving romance about a second chance at love. Olivia is looking forward to a future without her ex-husband. She now has Ash, an exciting lover who appreciates and loves her. Her new life with Ash is broadening her mind and outlook. On her birthday, Ash proposes to Olivia and ecstatically she accepts. Now, not only are they deeply in love and getting married, other spectacular things are happening within their two combined families. Ash's son is getting married and his career is taking off. Olivia's daughter is expecting her first baby, making Olivia and Ash grandparents.

Life has never been so good for either Olivia or Ash. Olivia and Ash are looking forward to their blended family's future together. However, as always happens in life, bad things go hand in hand with the good. Untimely and traumatizing deaths occur and Olivia discovers her closest friend has betrayed her. Someone both families love is in a grave and serious condition, needing their help and support. The repercussions of these events are producing feelings of resentment and instability. These insecurities are wreaking havoc with Olivia's attitude, causing her to do some soul searching. With all of these things converging on them in such a short period of time, will Olivia and Ash's relationship survive?

Out of The Box Regifted by Jennifer Theriot is a romance novel that is the passionate sequel to Out of The Box Awakening. This story takes up where the last one left off and is the continuation of Olivia's awakening. Here she struggles with her identity and role in her relationship with Ash. The unexpected hardships the blended family experiences help weed out ugly and painful memories and experiences. The story displays how the unconditional love of Olivia and Ash's blended family is a shield for them all against the anguish and devastation of loss and calamities. This is a marvelous romance story about a second chance at love and I recommend it to those over the age of eighteen due to the graphic sexual content.

Whew. The Taste of Air by Gail Cleare caught my attention from the moment I began to read it. What begins to unfold from page one is a captivating story filled with mystery, suspense, love, longing and family. As I write this review and begin to relive the story once again, my eyes are filling with tears. This is a book that I have told many people about already, recommending it to all of the book lovers in my life, because I have the hope that it will stay with them like it did with me. The writing was emotional, the scenery was imaginative, and each plot point revealed was mesmerizing. From beginning to end, I was wrapped up in this story and I found myself trying to prolong the ending, not wanting the story to close, but finding myself far too curious to leave this down for long.

The story of two sisters and their mother that unraveled throughout this novel was actually breathtaking at times. From love and war to secrets ready to be uncovered, each little piece played a pivotal part in how this entire book came together. It was wonderful watching the personal journeys of Nell and Bridget, two very different sisters yet also alike in so many ways, as they tried to find their own happiness amidst their mother’s sudden illness. Their bond was a comfort to me as I read. Overall, I hope you can see that I truly loved this story filled with plot twists and unpredictable moments, so get ready for a wild ride. I promise you it’s worth it, though. The Taste of Air by Gail Cleare is a poignant tale not to be missed.

A Bend in the Willow by Susan Clayton-Goldner is the story of Catherine Henry who lives with her husband and son in Tucson, Arizona. Circumstances force her to return to Willowood to face her family and her son, whom she gave up for adoption as he was the result of a rape. She has to save Michael, her five-year-old who is diagnosed with leukemia, a form resistant to chemotherapy. Doctors tell them that only a bone marrow transplant can save the boy and Catherine knows that it is time to go back to her past. Since blood relatives have the best chance of matching, Catherine has to tell about her 19-year-old son. Her husband, Ben, is shattered when he learns about her past and feels betrayed that she has kept it from him till now. Will Catherine be able to save her dying son? Who comes to her help finally?

The story is poignant and will awaken readers' emotions. The narration switches from the present to the past, connecting Catherine's present to her past. Ben’s feelings of being betrayed and let down are palpable, and Catherine’s guilt about her past and wanting to disassociate from it and start a new life is understandable. There are a lot of twists and turns in the plot which make the story a compelling read. The main character with a hidden past, her childhood problems, and her reasons for admitting to her past, running away from it, and finally going back to it have been woven together beautifully and this gives the story a mysterious vibe. The book will grab the attention of readers right from the first page to the last and the author captures the tension, family life, and small town ambiance perfectly.

Dirty Inspirations: Lessons from the Trenches of Extreme Endurance Sports by Terri Schneider is a radical work that takes the reader to the very heart and principle of extreme endurance sports, and how we can use it to uncover our hidden potential and enhance our emotional, physical, and psychological growth. The idea that we only grow by stepping beyond our comfort zone couldn’t find a better illustration than in Terri’s own life and work. Get ready to step into the dynamics of the mind of an ultra-endurance athlete, follow her in her awesome adventures and her triumphs through rough and dangerous landscapes, and then savor the amazing lessons she generously offers from her experience. In the heart of this book, readers will discover the incontestable truth that we discover our worth, our potential, our very essence when we push ourselves beyond the limits.

Terri Schneider’s nonfiction book is what I have been looking for over the years. As I read through her wonderful experiences and her inspiring words and wisdom, I came to the conclusion that real success only happens when we feel the pain, when we endure it patiently, feeling our muscles tense as we strive to overcome it. This is a truth that happens both in personal life and in business. I needed this truth to ring through every fiber of my being, and Dirty Inspirations: Lessons from the Trenches of Extreme Endurance Sports has been a wonderful encouragement in this light. I enjoyed Terri’s beautiful prose and her confidence in communicating her experience. Here is a book with a lesson for everyone, a philosophy that could change the way we see ourselves, our life, and our work.
