Be A Mensch: Unleash Your Power To Be Kind And Help Others by Elisa Udaskin is an uplifting and thought-provoking book that speaks about relationships, how we interact with people, and how we 'show' up. This applies to people close to us and also to strangers. The book is for everyone who has an open mindset, wants to grow, strengthen their relationships, and has a good sense of humor. The word 'mensch' is of Yiddish origin and means a genuinely good person. The concept of a mensch is to reach out and be kind and the tools and techniques in the book will help everyone access their inner mensch. The book has a collection of stories with the mensch concept of kindness running through them and is a good way to help us understand how to incorporate kindness into our daily lives and help others.
The approach to the topic of being kind and helping others by being a mensch has been tackled well by the author - kindness can help make our relationships better and inspires more kindness. The physical benefits of being kind are shared by the author through one of the stories, showing how much better we will feel emotionally, psychologically, and physically when we share kindness with others. Elisa Udaskin's inspirational journey will make us fall in love with her family members too. Be A Mensch is a well-expressed book and the author's neat and elegant style and humorous way of handling the topic make it easy for all readers to connect with her words. There are some interesting Yiddish words and expressions for readers that sound interesting.

Unshakable Awareness: Meditation in the Heart of Chaos, Taught by a Master of Four Samurai Arts (Total Embodiment Method TEM), by Richard L Haight, is an award-winning, dynamic self-help book to help you achieve mind/body/soul awareness and control. It comes at a time of uncertainty, change, and disruption, and has something for everyone. It doesn't ask you to give up your own personal beliefs, but to factor in new ideas that are based on being present and calm during challenges. The author uses ancient tenets of the four Samurai arts, and you'll be amazed at how easy and enlivening the advice is, especially in the area of meditation instruction. One advantage is that you don't have to go to a studio to practice it, you can do it in the comfort of your home, and this is helpful to those who may be isolated due to illness, quarantine, or depression.
Haight distills his expertise into usable information, and it is easier than you think. He explains how you can gain insight through active meditation, going about your everyday business. Whether a novice or experienced in meditation, you can use the contents of this book. Having a positive attitude is only part of the equation. You'll gain awareness, feel better, and this will hopefully lead to better health and contentment. You won't have to wonder what to do because the author provides step-by-step instructions and a schedule, which is helpful to those who have trouble sticking to routines and need greater motivation. Although not to be mistaken for official medical advice, this book hopes to improve health in a number of areas, from physical to psychological, like stronger immunity, lower stress levels, a positive outlook on life, and more. I found the information to be encouraging and positive, and the parts about the Four Samurai Arts are intriguing as well because they give foundation and perspective to the author's advice. The exercises and games make this an energetic read. If you're looking to turn over a new leaf, take your first step with Unshakable Awareness by Richard L Haight.

Show Up For Yourself: A Guide to Inner Growth and Awareness by Janet Philbin is an uplifting and encouraging book that can be used as a guide for inner awareness, growth, and becoming as you step forward to show up as you. The framework in the book tells how you can show up each and every day and bring joy, balance, and peace into your life. The healing process is a journey and Janet makes you understand how healing is a spiral that expands upward and round, which makes you touch the same points multiple times. The book will help heal your inner child and give you a new perspective on how to look at your pain and heal so that the true self will emerge. This is a fascinating trip into the self, into the heart, to look at the parts that need love, compassion, and healing, and to learn to give yourself what you give others easily.
Janet Philbin shares multiple cases and stories for you to connect better with her words, and there is also a mention of meditation, chakras, and the importance of both Western psychology and Eastern philosophy when it comes to healing. You will understand what healing is, how the inner child develops, the false self, ego, and the steps to heal the pain of your inner child so that you can finally become the light you are meant to be. The step-by-step guide to healing helps to prioritize and give attention to areas that require love and healing. Show Up For Yourself will help you to reconnect with your true self and become the captain of your ship. The book has gifts, lessons, the soul's yearning to grow and understand the depths of pain and celebrate the joy. The author's transformative journey is indeed an inspiration and encouragement to heal the pain of the past so the present and future are full of emotional wholeness.

The Breakthrough in Two Acts

Non-Fiction - Self Help
Within the first few paragraphs of The Breakthrough in Two Acts by Fredric C. Hartman, Ph.D., one breathes a very deep sigh of appreciation for something truly fresh and intelligent, startled by the clear recognition that, “Hey, I’m in the presence of something brisk and new, something that explains with crystal clarity this current life I live, something, even more importantly, that I can actually use to live it better." Some of his earliest words explain the basic parameters defining this recognition: “Our brain keeps believing danger is everywhere, as it was neurologically designed to do.” “But shouldn’t a sturdy, stable awareness be as basic to civilized life as shelter, or clothing?”
It might seem axiomatic that an academic subject written about by an accomplished academic would sound, well, academic. However, The Breakthrough in Two Acts, a remarkable evaluation, assessment, and practical revelation of human consciousness and our intimate connection with it, reads more like Fredric C. Hartman is a poet, not a doctor, or a mighty wise guru sitting alone atop a hill. That is the pleasure one feels while reading: not like he is listening to a lecture, but like he has wandered into a private conversation revealing the big secret behind our existence. Almost like someone finally unearthed that rumored-to-exist-but-must-not-be-seen instruction booklet. If all of this seems a bit light-hearted for such a serious subject, it is because the effect of Dr. Hartman’s book is to make one feel enlightened, and yes, a bit more light-hearted. But, in a most down-to-earth and useful way. And finally, I will say something I have never said before: Everyone needs to read this book. Everyone should read this book.
