Fiction - Paranormal
Allison Weathers is starting a new life in Dawson Mills. She bought a big old house and wanted to fix it up. She hired Paul Bradford to do the work on it. But before work could start Allison started getting strange feelings in the house. She confided to Paul who told her that he had seen something as a child that had stayed with him all his life. Allison tells Paul that she is trying to find out what happened to her mother. One day in town she meets Toni Harper who works at the local newspaper. She confides to Toni that she is looking into what happened to her mother and mentions that she has seen the spirit of a young boy and a dog. The boy warns her that a bad man is watching her and advises her to be careful. Toni tells her that he would like Allison to meet her niece who has special abilities. But, before they can get together Allison is kidnapped and Paul, Toni, her niece and a reluctant sheriff have to find her before the bad man can hurt her. Allison had a hard time dealing with her husband's death. When she sees his spirit her father has her committed to a mental hospital. Now she just wants to take control of her life, but when she starts hearing things and seeing things she thinks she is going insane. Paul has been living with the knowledge that he saw a little girl years ago and she just disappeared. He believes that Allison is sensitive to the spirits and wants to help her figure out what is going on. Toni was in a relationship with the sheriff Ray but he could not accept that her niece had special abilities. Toni, however, believes everything that Allison tells her.
This is the kind of book that just builds and builds from the start. It grabs a hold of you and does not let go until it is finished. Lots of suspense and tension that will keep the heart thumping from beginning to end. The author has an excellent mix of mystery and paranormal activity to deliver an excellent book. Well worth the time to read this one.

Fiction - Paranormal
Reeshana is a Miracle Mixer, someone from another dimension who throws miracles. She is known to be one of the best, but something happens while throwing her latest miracle. She falls into the mix, and becomes someone else. Merri Dwyer has been plagued by odd dreams all her life, and lately she has been dreaming about the same people and can actually feel their experiences. When she takes a business trip to Phoenix to scout out a new location for a bookstore things get weird as someone starts following her, so she cuts her trip short and heads home to Denver, but the problem follows her. It seems as if someone wants her dead, and will go to any lengths to make it happen. Who would want Merri dead, and how does Reeshana fit into the puzzle?
An intricately woven plot with plenty of twists and turns makes this book a real page turner. Ms. Nash has the ability to bring not only her characters to life, but with her attention to detail she easily brings the story itself to life. Her attention to detail and the way she describes the action packed scenes really made me feel as if I was watching a motion picture. She really kept me guessing as to who the bad guys actually were. Often when a story involves the past as well as the present, it becomes hard to follow, but not so with "The Miracle Mixer." I found myself becoming quite interested in the past, but was also anxious to know what was taking place with Merri. I really felt as if Merri was a great lead character. She had such a wry sense of humor, was brave and really cared about her friends. While the author provides a satisfying ending, she also left me anxious for another book with these characters. Overall, if you enjoy a contemporary fiction that also gives glimpses of the past, which weaves together mystery, intrigue, a splash of romance, as well as drama and then throws in a sci-fi twist that takes on the age old war of good versus evil, then "The Miracle Mixer" is a must read.

Fiction - Paranormal
Everyone has a story – even a violent killer Weresnake.Trystan is a young boy living with his mother and brother in the swamps of early 20th century America. Trying to make a better life for themselves the Weresnake family move to work in a hotel and bit by bit life begins to improve. Trystan’s father who has been absent since before his birth finds them, and he is now very wealthy and prominent in society. With his new found wealth and status the girl Trystan loves agrees to marry him. Then everything starts to go wrong. What we get is a heart-breaking story of what the loss of those you care for can do and the lengths one man will go to for revenge.
Tara Fox Hall has written a truly outstanding book. "Lash" is a surprisingly beautiful and emotional tale of heartbreak, loss, revenge and violence. Set in the early 20th century, the book interweaves the issues and prejudices of the time such as class, skin colour and the way women are treated, with an amazing tale of a man who is clearly desperate for love even if he himself doesn’t know it. The paranormal aspect of this book is incredible with a rich lore of the characters. Trystan is a lovable character despite some of the atrocities he commits. The pure love he shows his family and those that he cares for is beautiful, as is his perseverance no matter what struggles life throws at him. This is a truly remarkable book and a definite must read.

Fiction - Paranormal
"Blue Blood Forever" is the second in a series written by Stacy Eaton. This story is a pulse-pounding and exciting story that keeps the adrenalin pumping. I will be honest with you. I never would have thought that I would like a story about vampires, or the police, for that matter. However, I found the characters in this book to be riveting four dimensional characters whom you route for. The vampires portrayed in this book are not your everyday vampires but rather vampires who choose to use their super human-like characteristics to help humanity instead of to hurt them. Even though these characters are forced to face some difficult odds, and even death, they seem to meet the mark and rise to the occasion in ways that are surprising and original. This book is a page turner and a fast read. The main character Kristen, who is half human and half vampire, displays the type of charm we wish all human beings had.
This book could use a bit of editing, but it is still very good and I would highly recommend it. It is pure entertainment at its best, a real roller coaster ride of a story.

Fiction - Paranormal
This novel is geared for Young Adults but it's superbly written in a way that is perfect for adults too. Ms. Chand brings the reader instantly into the heart of the story. She sets us down next to vivid and complex characters. The ride that her reader takes through this novel is an emotional adventure!
First, I'd like to say that I can't imagine being blind. I know there are those out there that are, and adapt well to it, but Alex. He was a truly fantastic character, adapting well to his blindness and telling his story. I loved the way that Ms. Chand added the fantasy realm to the story with Alex's visions of the future. How does a blind man see the future? Using his abilities, like the extra sensitive senses like hearing, tasting, feeling, thinking...all of it combine gives Alex a great ability.
Mixed into the story of Alex's ability to see the future, is a twist in love, when Alex falls for both Simmi and Shapri. Those characters are complex and added the perfect amount of adventure for the story.
This novel kept me up late into the night, turning page after page, following Alex's story. I had to know what would happen next and how the book would end. Like a roller coaster ride, Ms. Chand will take the reader through a story that will leave the them blown away with the outcome of the plot. "Seeing" life through a blind young man's eyes was incredible.
If you are a young adult novel lover, you will LOVE this story. If you are new to the young adult genre, this is a perfect place to start! It's definitely on my high recommendations list, and I am anxious for Ms. Chand to release another fantastically written novel.

Parker Hill is a twenty-year-old college student who is on the cusp of knowing what he wants to do with his life. His father, who is a judge, wants Parker to follow the family into law, but Parker has other ideas; he thinks he might want to major in history. Just before summer break, he has a recurring dream in which he finds himself in a desert, being pursued by three men and eventually shot. The thing is, in his dream he is an Indian warrior. He feels drawn to take a trip to Denver, and his friend Sam Lukas decides to go along. Will he figure out what is drawing him to Denver, and what the dreams he is having are about?
In Warrior's Song, Thomas Hill easily weaves Parker's past and present together giving the reader a good picture of who Parker is. The vividness in which his dreams are described easily pulled me along making me wonder why Parker, who was from the east coast, would be dreaming that he is a Native American; but as the story unfolds, I realized that it was all a part of the big picture. I loved the author's descriptions; he described D.C. in such a way that I felt like I was right along with Parker, and he painted a picture of Colorado that I can only describe as epic. It's easy to imagine the beauty of the area, as well as the poverty of some of the areas Parker visited. I really would be remiss if I didn't say that the ending of the story totally took me by surprise! While this book is different than what I normally read, I found it an enjoyable read and would certainly look for more from this author.

Fiction - Paranormal
While visiting her aunt and uncle, 14-year-old Emily discovered two ghosts living in their quaint little cottage near Stonehenge. One ghost was a young girl. The other ghost appeared to be evil, taunted her during her visit and left her feeling threatened. No one believed Emily except for a teenage neighbor, Jonathan. Emily was determined to learn more about the ghosts. Five years later Emily returned to the cottage to try to solve the mystery. She was reunited with Jonathan and there was romance in the air.
This book was hard to put down. It was easy to connect to the characters; I felt as if I was right there with them. This tale is full of mystery, suspense and paranormal attributes, from magic, sorcery, ghosts, love and romance, to reincarnation. This is the first book in a new trilogy by the author. It is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that will stay with you long into the night. If you are looking for a good thriller, then look no further. Grab a copy, turn on the light and close the drapes.
