Christian - Thriller
The Hope Mother by Judy Scognamillo is an unusual and unconventional story with a spiritual vibe. Pam realizes that life does not end with death. She finds herself in a place which borders Heaven after her death. There she meets Fara, her guide, who tells her that before she moves forward into Heaven, they need to view her earthly life completely. Here Pam is informed that she is a Hope Mother, a woman who has lost her baby before it was born. These babies are termed Angel Babies and are allowed to be born again to complete their earthly journey. The book gives an uplifting outlook on the afterlife and gives readers who have lost a loved one a sense of hope and comfort.
I enjoyed the book thoroughly. The plot is original and positive, and weaves hope through the minds of readers. The story has many dimensions and keeps readers engrossed until the very end. The characters are well sketched and the fight between good and evil also forms an integral part of the story. The narration is descriptive and detailed, and it's a book for those who believe in Heaven and the afterlife. The presence of Angels in the story is peaceful and comforting. The presence of God, Hope Mother, Angel Babies, our undying soul and the deceptiveness of the Devil are themes that have been handled well as the story progresses. The book is an excellent read and will fascinate even those readers who are not religious.

Christian - Thriller
A Silver Medallion (A Crystal Moore Suspense Book 2) by James R. Callan is the thrilling sequel to A Ton of Gold. Crystal Moore finds a runaway slave in an old shed while visiting her grandmother. She is outraged at the suffering and abuse the young woman has endured just to keep her husband, still in Mexico, safe. Crystal is horrified when the young woman, Rosa, explains she isn't the only slave suffering at the hands of a notoriously wealthy Dallas man. There is another young woman working for the monster who keeps her entrapped in his giant house. Rosa's friend, Lucita, fears for the life of her two little girls, being held captive in Mexico. Crystal finds herself obsessing over Lucita's plight. She wants to help the tragic young woman, but how? Crystal works with her friends to find a way to save the young girls and reunite them with their mother. But how much is she willing to risk to help Lucita and her girls? How much is Crystal willing to lose? Can she reunite the children with their mother? Or is she endangering them all?
Filled to the brim with slavery, trafficking, smuggling, murder and secrets, A Silver Medallion is an entertaining, well-written book. The author obviously loves Mexico. His rich details describing Mexico and the people were engaging and made me feel like I was there with Crystal. Although a sequel, A Silver Medallion is a great stand-alone novel. I really enjoyed reading this book! It was interesting and full of action. The page-turning suspense kept me up well into the pre-morning! I look forward to reading future Crystal Moore suspense novels by James R. Callan.

Christian - Thriller
Voice of Freedom by H.L. Wegley is a political thriller laced with action and intrigue, a game of power that will appeal very much to fans of Ludlum thrillers, only this time the setting isn’t what most readers are used to. Set against the United States of America during a time of unbridled tyranny, this thriller, book 2 in the Against All Enemies series, features very compelling characters and follows a few brave souls who can’t stomach the ruthlessness of an unforgiving dictator. No one can stand up against President Abe Hannan, or so he and the world think, until six brave men decide to mount a resistance. The six men, led by Steve Bancroft, know they mustn’t make a mistake in any step they take going forward. Can they succeed in overthrowing a powerful government that will do anything to suppress the slightest form of resistance?
H.L. Wegley has crafted a very intense thriller, and the budding love story comes in as a great teaser and a device to create suspense. Readers want to know what will become of Steve Bancroft and the woman he is irresistibly drawn to; Julia. The sense of danger that permeates the entire story keeps the reader’s pulse high. Voice of Freedom features very powerful themes and, at a critical time in US politics, this book comes across as a warning of a fate that can befall the government. H.L. Wegley’s writing is as compelling and enticing as the story he tells. Highly recommended for readers looking for an engaging and entertaining read.

Christian - Thriller
Voice in the Wilderness by H.L. Wegley is the opening book in the Against All Enemies series, a thriller with great spiritual and political undertones, and a stunning indictment of a system that fosters dictatorship and a mindless form of capitalism. The US is heading towards martial law and the future looks very bleak and grim. But one person, KC Banning, a network specialist, discovers President Hannan's tyrannical bent. Now she knows too much and is branded a terrorist. She has only one person to run to; Brock Daniels, a childhood sweetheart turned writer and reputable blogger. Those who still remain loyal to the constitution read Brock’s blog and find some iota of hope to hold onto, but for how long? Soon Brock and Banning will be running for their lives as Hannan’s men come for them.
H.L. Wegley creates a story that will have readers spellbound and utterly captivated. The plot is appealing and it features compelling characters. Readers will love to follow the story about the relationship between Daniels and Banning, a relationship that is held in place by a very fragile thread. I enjoyed how the two characters evolved. It is surprising to read a thriller that seems to speak about the current US political situation with such brilliance. I couldn’t help but think about the current US President leading the nation towards the worst form of dictatorship as I read on. The conflict is huge and it propels the story swiftly forward. Voice in the Wilderness features a great plot, awesome characters, and a political setting that reflects the drama the world is witnessing in US politics today. It’s a prophetic work.
